Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is wonderfully relaxing, its light, gentle approach makes it ideal for a little time out, a chance to truly unwind.

I use a variety of techniques to release and relieve tight, fatigued muscles, warming the area and smoothing out muscular tension. You will feel lighter and have a greater ease in movement, many patients find that they sleep much deeper after a Swedish Massage.

The skin's natural functions will be stimulated improving the condition of the skin and the warmth created will help relax the body physically and mentally.


Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a very firm, focused massage, much deeper than Swedish Massage.  It focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. The aim is to release tension within the body, un-sticking muscle fibers, releasing deep tension and relieve chronic muscle aches and pains.

Deep Tissue Massage can be used as a full body massage, or more specifically to a certain area (back, neck, legs, gluteus muscles etc.) of the body. The treatment can at times be uncomfortable and may leave you feeling a little tender and sore during or after the massage, this will ease up within a few days and will be completely dependent on the area treated, how chronic the condition was and whether it is your first or subsequent treatments. It aims to rebalance and realign the deeper layers of your body, muscles, tendons and connecting tissue.

I will focus on areas that are tense, working on 'knots' that form with chronic muscle tension.

Deep tissue massage is best experienced regularly over a period of several weeks or months, as all your muscle tension won't simply disappear overnight.  It can have amazing long-term benefits such as relief from pain in the muscles and joints, a reduction in noticable stress and anxiety, an improvement in circulation and nerve function, and a general feeling of wellbeing.


Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage has to be one of the most enjoyable and relaxing therapeutic massages available. For hundreds of years, hot stone massage has been used by many different cultures and modern-day therapists apply the same techniques for a wonderfully relaxing massage designed to work on muscle tension at the deepest level.

During the hot stone massage treatment, smooth, basaltic (volcanic) rocks that have been heated in water are used in two ways; some stones are wrapped in towels and placed on specific energy centres, known as chakras, along the body to align and re-balance the bodies natural energy flow, whilst other stones are used by the therapist to perform the body massage. The heat of the stones penetrates deep into the muscle tissue allowing the muscles to relax 4-5 times quicker than in a standard body massage, easing muscle tension and revitalising the muscle tissue by increasing blood circulation.

The deep relaxation and increased blood flow to the areas being worked not only accelerates any healing processes but also creates a state of deep mental relaxation.
